          Virtualbox adalah salah satu software buatan oracle. Yang berfungsi sebagai player untuk OS lain, sehingga kita bisa mengemulasikan OS satu diatas OS yang terinstal di komputer kita karena Virtualbox bekerja seperti emulator. Kebanyakan user menggunakan Virtualbox untuk berbagai hal, seperti yang sederhana adalah mencoba sebuah OS apakah nyaman atau tidak. Dan beda lagi dikalangan developer linux, Virtualbox lebih digunakan untuk testing OS .




       Dengan software ini kamu tidak perlu menseting bios menjadi dual boot untuk menggunakan lebih dari satu OS dalam satu komputer, Kamu bisa menggunakan virtualbox sebagai emulator untuk menggunakan OS yang lain dalam komputermu.

        Jadi, misal komputer kita sudah terinstal Windows 8 sebagai OS nya, namun kamu dapat materi kuliah yang harus menggunakan linux untuk praktiknya, nah jadi kamu tidak perlu instal OS kedua di komputer. Kamu hanya perlu image file dari OS nya, misal berformat ,ISO , lalu kamu tinggal instal virtualbox agar bisa membooting si linx tadi. Nah, nanti linux akan berdiri diatas windows kamu, dan kamu bisa menggunakan si linux tanpa harus instal OS kedua lewat bios.
